Hey besties! As we’re about to wrap up another skincare-centric year, I wanted to chat with you about the skincare trends that shaped our routines in 2024, specifically the skincare trends 2025 will keep, and some new ones I’m predicting to grow bigger this year.
Last year was all about finding balance and enhancing our skincare in many ways, from embracing skincare minimalism to integrating cutting-edge technology at home, but which skincare trends will keep evolving in 2025?

2024 Skincare trends 2025 will keep and build on
Let’s discuss these trends and check what 2025 has in store for us. I’m so excited to see these evolving and growing even bigger, but also to see if my predictions are correct.
Skincare Trends 2025: Skinimalism
Last year, the ‘less is more’ approach really took centre stage, and this skincare trend will definitely stay for 2025. Skinimalism focuses on simplifying skincare and reducing the number of products we use daily. It emphasizes quality over quantity, promoting the use of multifunctional products that are gentle and effective. This approach is not only about achieving better skin health but also about making skincare routines more manageable and sustainable.
The beauty of skinimalism lies in its simplicity and the benefits it brings:
• Healthier Skin: Using fewer products reduces the risk of irritation and helps maintain the skin’s natural balance.
• Easier Routine: A simplified routine saves time, reduces the hassle of using multiple products, and reduces the overwhelming feeling of having too many steps.
• Environmental Benefits: Using fewer products means less waste, making it more eco-friendly and sustainable.
To jump on this skincare trend in 2025, start by assessing your current skincare products. Identify which ones are essential and which ones can be replaced by more versatile options. A good moisturizer with SPF like the Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream SPF30 and a gentle, hydrating, but effective cleanser like the Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm can be a good foundation.

Then, consider incorporating a serum like the Bubble Day Dream Tone and Texture Serum, that targets multiple specific concerns like hydration or anti-ageing, allowing you to simplify your routine further.
However, because I am a skincare blogger, skinimalism isn’t and probably will never be one of the 2025 skincare trends I’d follow. Despite that, I appreciate how it invites us to rethink how we care for our skin. It’s about choosing smarter, not harder, and making caring for our skin more manageable and less overwhelming.
Skincare Trends 2025: Mental Health Awareness in Skincare
Last year, mental health awareness had beautifully woven its way into the skincare industry. Recognizing the powerful connection between skincare and mental well-being, this 2024 trend was all about using skincare routines to support not just physical health but emotional and psychological health, too.
Incorporating aromatherapy elements into skincare routines or using facial massage tools can turn a simple skincare regimen into a calming ritual. Personally, the use of lavender-scented pillow sprays and night creams has made my nighttime routine so soothing and has made my falling asleep way easier.
Skincare routines are being acknowledged not only for their skin benefits but also for their therapeutic properties. The ritual of skincare can be a form of self-care that significantly decreases stress and enhances your mood.
Some benefits that people benefit from exploring mental health awareness within their skincare:
• Stress Reduction: Engaging in a regular skincare routine can provide a calming effect, helping to alleviate daily stress.
• Improved Self-Esteem: Studies have shown increased self-esteem and body image by taking time to care for yourself.
• Enhanced Sleep Quality: Evening skincare routines can signal the body that it’s time to wind down, which leads to improving your sleep quality.
To incorporate mental wellness into your skincare, start by creating a soothing environment – perhaps light a scented candle or play some relaxing music during your skincare ritual. Choose products that not only benefit your skin type but also include ingredients known for their calming properties, like lavender or chamomile. Allow yourself to be fully present during this routine, focusing on each sensation as a moment of relaxation.
Some products I use to relax in the evening:
- Feather and Down Warming Body Scrub – Warms up your body while showering. Feels lush!
- Feather & Down Sweet Dreams Pillow Spray – Helps you wind down and relax when you go to bed. I also spray my pyjamas with it!
- Malin + Goetz Cannabis Candle – Smells deep and relaxing. Perfect for evenings.
- Pro-Collagen Overnight Matrix – Amazing night cream with lavender scent. It relaxes you but also gives you a lift overnight. This is my ultimate favourite night cream.
- Izipizi Sleeping Glasses – Wear them for two hours every night, and they will improve your sleep. I love them personally.
- Magnesium Glycinate Gummies – Take two before sleep for improved sleep. These have Lemon balm, Ashwagandha and Magnesium to help you relax before bed.
- Pixi Dream-Y Mist – Spray on your face after you finish your routine for some extra hydration and a relaxing scent.
Skincare Trends 2025: At-home Skincare Devices
At-home skincare devices have revolutionized how we approach skin treatments, bringing professional-level technology directly into our homes and it’s been one of the skincare trends 2025 will definitely expand on. Devices like LED masks and microcurrent tools have become staples in my home, giving professional-level results in the comfort of my beauty room.
This 2024 skincare trend has made it easier than ever to maintain results from spa treatments or target specific concerns without scheduling appointments or leaving the house. With advancements in skincare tools, these devices are now more accessible, effective, and user-friendly.
Last year, I experimented with an at-home CurrentBody LED mask, and the results have been remarkable. It has helped reduce inflammation and brighten my skin, and I also combined it with the LED Neck and Decolletage Mask, improving the lines on my neck significantly.
Microcurrent tools, too, have become an exciting addition for those wanting lifting and toning – perfect for enhancing your skincare routine. I have been using microcurrent, EMS, and similar devices for years, but they were definitely not as accessible as they are now. This is definitely going to stay in the 2025 skincare trends,
Skincare Trends 2025: Microbiome Health Products
The health of our skin’s microbiome became a major focus in 2024, influencing how we choose our skincare products. Formulations that balance and nourish our skin’s flora have been popping up everywhere and have been created to maintain barrier integrity and overall skin health.
By switching to a probiotic moisturizer (specifically, I tried Opalore), I noticed fewer breakouts, better hydration, and an overall smoother texture, showing how crucial microbiome-friendly products are.
This skincare trend emphasizes nurturing the skin’s natural ecosystem – its microbiome – made up of billions of beneficial bacteria that work to protect, repair, and maintain overall skin health. It’s all about creating balance rather than stripping away, ensuring that our skin barrier remains intact and resilient.
To incorporate this trend into your routine, look for products that include probiotics, prebiotics, or postbiotics, as these ingredients help maintain a healthy balance of good bacteria on the skin. Avoid harsh cleansers or over-exfoliation, as these can disrupt the microbiome, undoing the benefits of microbiome-friendly formulations.
Although I often test products that can be harsher, and I can’t strictly use these, I’ve come to value the role of microbiome health in maintaining a strong and balanced foundation for my skin. This trend has shifted how I approach skincare, reminding me that sometimes, taking care of what’s unseen makes the biggest difference. I believe it will just evolve into an even bigger skincare trend in 2025.
Skincare Trends 2025: Blue Light Protection Skincare
Last year, blue light protection became a massive focus in the skincare industry. As our lives increasingly revolve around screens, the impact of blue light exposure on our skin has drawn significant attention. Known as high-energy visible light, blue light penetrates deeply into the skin, potentially accelerating ageing, causing pigmentation, and weakening the skin barrier. Skincare products now aim to shield and repair the skin from the aggressor.
Blue light protection has shifted how I view daily skincare and incorporating a blue-light-specific serum into the past year has made a noticeable difference, especially in reducing dullness and maintaining my skin’s overall health despite long hours in front of my laptop and phone.
The benefits of blue light protection in skincare are amazing:
• Prevention of Premature Aging: Blue light accelerates oxidative stress, which can lead to fine lines and wrinkles. Protective products help mitigate this damage.
• Reduction in Pigmentation: Targeted formulations prevent the hyperpigmentation caused by prolonged screen exposure.
• Barrier Strengthening: Products designed for blue light protection often include ingredients that enhance skin resilience and repair damage from environmental aggressors.
To be on top of this trend, look for skincare products containing antioxidants like vitamin C, niacinamide, or algae extracts. These ingredients neutralize free radicals generated by blue light exposure. Sunscreens with HEV light protection are also essential for complete coverage, even indoors. Coola has an amazing, probiotic serum sunscreen, so it is a perfect way to try both trends – COOLA DEW GOOD ILLUMINATING SERUM SUNSCREEN.
We are definitely carrying this skincare trend into the 2025, and I can’t wait to see more brands jumping on it.
2025 Skincare Trends Predictions
Looking towards 2025 and making a wild guess in predicting what is to become massive, here are a few new trends that are on the rise as we go into January:
Skincare Trends 2025: Ectoin in Skincare
Ectoin is emerging as a must-watch ingredient for skincare, making it a key prediction for 2025. This natural molecule, often referred to as an “extremolyte,” is produced by microorganisms living in extreme environments, such as salt lakes and deserts. It protects these organisms from harsh conditions, and when applied to skincare, it brings those same protective properties to our skin.
Ectoin is gaining attention for its ability to shield the skin from environmental stressors like pollution, UV radiation, and blue light exposure. It works by stabilizing cellular structures and preventing oxidative stress, making it highly effective in combating the effects of modern living on our skin. Its benefits don’t stop there – it also helps to maintain skin hydration, soothe inflammation, and repair the skin barrier.
Ectoin’s multifunctional benefits, combined with its natural origins and effectiveness in addressing modern skin concerns, make it a standout ingredient for 2025. As more brands incorporate it into their formulations, it’s poised to become a staple in skincare routines focused on protection, hydration, and resilience.
I am already loving The Inkey List and the Allies of Skin’s Ectoin serums, which I only got my hands on last month. The results on my skin are amazing from both, but they target slightly different concerns due to the differences in ingredients.
Skincare Trends 2025: Sensitive Skin Solutions
In 2025, skincare for sensitive skin is expected to expand, with brands focusing on soothing, effective products tailored to individual needs. This includes gentle bio-retinol serums, probiotic moisturizers for barrier repair, and microbiome-friendly cleansers, which are crossing with the microbiome trend. Bakuchiol-based treatments, a natural retinol alternative, are also set to gain even more popularity for their anti-ageing benefits without irritation.
We may also see personalized skincare powered by AI diagnostics, ensuring products are carefully matched to sensitive skin concerns. These innovations highlight the growing demand for solutions that cater to sensitivities without sacrificing results, making skincare more inclusive and effective.
Skincare Trends 2025: Exosomes in Skincare
These powerful vesicles are set to revolutionize regenerative and anti-ageing treatments, making our skincare routines even more effective. Exosomes facilitate communication between cells, playing a crucial role in skin regeneration and repair. Their ability to promote collagen production and accelerate healing makes them a promising addition to anti-ageing and regenerative skincare treatments.
The products below harness exosome technology to enhance skincare efficacy and I am obsessed at the moment with the One Day Exosome Shot Pore Ampoule by Medicube.
As a skincare blogger, I find the integration of exosomes into skincare both exciting and indicative of a shift towards more advanced, science-backed treatments. Their potential to revolutionize regenerative and anti-ageing skincare makes them a trend worth keeping an eye on.
My Skincare Resolutions for 2025
Moving into 2025, I’m excited to refine my routine further, integrating these cutting-edge trends and focusing on sustainability and skin health. I plan to explore ectoin and exosomes more and continue advocating for mental health through mindful skincare practices.
